Knitting, Sewing and Other Fun Things

I signed up to train for a 5K... have I ever mentioned how much I hate to sweat, and run, and sweat... did I mention I don't like to sweat? Oh well I've always wanted to participate in a Breast Cancer WALK and have always missed the deadlines(aka I found out about the event about two days before it started, not really enough time to raise money or sign up). I was at the gym yesterday and found up that they are having a "workshop" to train for the 5K and it ends the weekend before the race starts so here's hoping I don't pass out in the middle of it! I figure the worst that could happen is I come in last and I walk most of it. Either way I'll be getting a lot more exercise than normal and it's for a good cause. Time for me to go hit up friends and family I've sponsored in fundraisers!

Knitting? Oh yea I tend to talk about knitting here don't I? Well there has been some FO's lately and many more restarts. I finished two baby jackets and baby hats for the Ravelympics, and almost a set of mittens. I was a little overly ambitious making a goal of two baby hats and jackets, and two sets of color work mittens. I might have made it if I had nothing to do for the two weeks and if I hadn't gotten so frustrated with the mittens. One of the sets I was working on is almost finished I need to hide my ends and knit the thumbs and they will be done. The other set needs some frogging because my gauge changed drastically when I separated the thumb gusset from the hand. I've also been working on the Indigo ripples skirt. I am using Knit picks CotLin and it was chugging along nicely, until yesterday. I've been going to a trainer since it I didn't know what I was capable of after Peanut was born, and yesterday was an evaluation of my progress. Everything went well and I'm making nice progress, but realized based on my new measurements my skirt will be 3" too big! So this is a YAY and CRAP situation. Plus I cannot find my original gauge swatch so I can double check my calculations and re-cast on. Poop. So based on my notes I'll have to do everything over again when I was half way through the lace. I was probably a little to generous with my first calculations anyway so this isn't all bad I guess. This time I'm going to cast on and plan for an inch of ease so that if I do lose that much more I won't have to completely trash the project again.

C'mon! Knit it with negative ease, and then only knit and exercise until you have finished it.
